Had two good freestyle sessions at the estuary on tuesday and wednesday, each day sailing from around 11 to 6. My Starboard flare is a really nice board, i can use it with a 6.2 and 16cm fin with no difficulty at all, and the deck dome is soo nice:) Looks like a bit of wind now hopefully theres some waves at dollymount...

Sheet in like a mother****er

A few weeks ago I was able to go to the west coast of Ireland for the first time. It was logo high at times and almost cross-shore. It was probably one of my best days wavesailing, even the rinses were fun haha! So nice to not have thick seaweed and jellyfish, just blue water and sunshine:)

Then we had a good day in Dollymount on thursday. It was pretty gusty and I was either overpowered or sinking.. But there was some nice fun waves. Mondays looking good for jumping.. Thanks Oisin for the pictures

Sunny Evening Seabreeze

Just came in from a nice evening sail. The wind was up and down so I took out my 98litre flare and 5.3 blade. The breeze kicked in and there was plenty of it. The water temperature was lovely too and I only needed shorts and my mystic rashvest. The wind came in patches and then dissapered for a while which allowed me to practise my heli tacks which I was getting every time on both tacks which I was pleased about. I'm in the process of learning vulcans too, I can get the rotations some times howver I havent sailed away from one yet, though I do feel I am getting closer every time I go out.

Vulcan!

Have been getting some good freestyle sessions in at the Burrow. I also got some good vulcan rotations and now I am just trying to crack sailing properly away switch stance. My new Chinook Pro-1 boom has really helped! I also got some flatwater loops in, so now going to go for some doubles.. haha! I also got out at dollymount with a seabreeze, mikey and I were out on 5.0's and trying to get some loops, but the waves were only on the shallow part so it was a bit skechy. Tomorrow looks good for freestyle at the burrow again.

Flat Water At Burrow Beach Last Weekend

We had a great time last Saturday at the burrow. The wind was about 20knots and it was a northerly so it was really flat with the low tide. Just to top it off we had sunshine the whole day, from freestylers to speed sailors everyone had a great time. This time the kitesurfers wernt dominating the water, the windsurfers were!! haha. After we went in I came back out with the camers and got a few shots of the Speed sailors.

New Sponsors and Fleadh

This weekend there will be the Fleadh Seoil at Wind and Wave, where there will be clinics for everyone! The forecast is looking great with some nice wind for beginners on Saturday and then Sunday should be perect with 20kts of wind, perfect for freestyle and speed.

I also got a new sponsor, well two new sponsors,

Wind and Wave

I am getting Severne sails and Starboard boards off Wind and Wave. Me and Lewis really like the Blades, they have a lot of low end power and high end control, meaning they have a huge wind range. I also am using the Starboard quad 66 which is the best board I have ever been on. This board once turned on its rail just is unstoppable!

I have also got sponsored by X-Treme Video, the European Importer for GoPro Head cams.So now I can use one of the coolest cameras ever to capture the coolest sport ever! I will be using it most times I am out so I will have loads of videos up coming:)

We went to Dollymount on Saturday and despite the forecast it was really windy, but as soon as we hit the water it went. We stayed out doing a bit of light wind stuff and then headed in for a drink (it was suprisingly warm!). When we got to the trailer it looked like it picked up so we went back down, still just not enough. Then Lewis headed in and there was a couple of gusts when i got planing on my 66l and 5.0. Then it really picked up and was a lot of fun!

Hope to see loads of people on the weekend,

there will be free heiniken on saturday night;)

Dollymount

Had a sick day in Dollymount today. Weve been out a bit since our last post, had some nice cross off day at dollymount 2 weeks ago and a port tack session at the burrow.

Today i was over powered on my 4.2 and lewis was stacked on his 4.7.

We decided to have a jump off and were trying backies and I also tried some frontside 360s and frontloops, but was too over powered to land them.

There was also a big fire on the dunes.. hope nobody

New Boards

Well its been ages since we've had any wind! But now its back:) I was out at Fingal Sailing School teaching on Sunday which was cool, and then got out with some of the speed sailors on a code red 7.5.
Then on Tuesday me and lewis went to dollymount on our new boards( me on a quad 66 and lewis on evo 80). We were on 5.0 and 5.3 blades which we both love, so much power. It was a good day pretty powered up. Lewis was ripping on his new board aswell, so fast.
also got out again in fingal for paddys day and tought some kids how to windsurf, and got planing on a 7.8 and bic techno pro.
Theres a wave event on somewhere in dublin this weekend so hopefulyl well have some wind for that!

New Chinook Pro 1 Alloy booms

Next month the new chinnook pro 1 alloy booms will be available to buy. They look extremely good and no doubt will be very stiff like their triple clamp alloy booms!

Burrow Sessions

Had a good day out on Sunday , the wind was pretty light and I could only use my 4.2 as I broke my 400 mast last wednesday. On wednesday it was super windy and I took out my brand new 5.0 Blade and broke my mast and also put two holes in the luff sleeve! But it was a pretty cool feeling, I was just bearing away to head down beside the sand bank and boom it went. Sunday was weird it was ok in the gusts but I was totaly underpowered with a 4.2 but still managed to get planing some times. Hopefully will have some crazy winds this weekend for some super powered 4.2 weather!

Snow, Ice and Wind!

Well Ireland has shown a bit of an incompentence to extreme weather conditions, first with that heat-wave at the start of summer and places lacking water and now snow and ice! Doesnt bother me, I've got next week off school and its windy!

Lewis and I headed out on the Burrow on Wednesday. It was good onshore jumping and with the incoming tide the waves came in from the other direction and got fairly decent, it was weird as the wind was onshore but the waves were coming across the sand bank so it was like cross-shore...
Sunday looks good but snow and hail is forecast so should make it interesting!

Check out Oisin's blog to see what its like getting nailed in the face with frozen balls!
Well that sounds interesting....

Skerries

Had a great session yesterday with Ali B and Jack Kavanagh. I headed to Skerries for the day. It was pretty gusty port tack cross-onshore jumping with some decent chop/waves. We decided to have a loop off and i waterstarted away from two which Im super pleased with as they were the first I tried on my port tack. Pozo here I come haha!
